Brad a high quality yogurt is good to give and seeing how you have it on hand, I would give some( start with a healthy tablespoon)
to your dog to see if they like it.
It is not necessarily something that is needed in the diet, yet it can be very good for them, helping to grow the good bacteria in their gut.
Many use it for allergies and for dogs with digestive issues to help balance the gut.
I have given kefir to my dogs too, which has even more different strains of cultures( 10) over the 5-8 that yogurt has.
Either way, you want to try to look for yogurts that have the higher numbers over say the one strain that some yogurts contain.
It is good when they actually list the strains of bacteria.
The higher quality ones do, and you can count them.
A healthy gut in anyone, a dog or a human is usually a healthy individual. That is why I like to give yogurt/kefir.
