Update on this.
Animal Control has taken the dogs away from her and fined her. Thank goodness.
this all that I know right now. They took the dogs this morning.

Sad. They should've taken her and left the dogs.
Hopefully this will send her a clear message, but I doubt it. Be safe and try to avoid her for the next week or so...those types like revenge.

He is there during the day; He also has a PP dog. She is one bada** GSD. He is helping me with my training and is working with my dog on refusal of food from strangers. And he is leaving his dog out to keep anyone from getting to the Runs in my backyard. Till we know that Treasure will not take anything with out being told to.
The way He is working with her, He takes food and drops it in the back yard. Then puts a shock collar on the dog then turns the dog loss in the yard. Goes to a good viewpoint, at my house it’s the den window, to where the dog cannot see him, but he can see the dog. When the dog tries to pickup the food he shocks them. He keeps this up till the dog leaves the food alone. He said it would take about 3 days to get her trained not to pickup food she finds.
I hope this is the right way to do this. If not I will stop it and do the right thing. I don't want to hurt my dog in anyway.
Thanks for all the words of wisdom and all ya'lls input on this.

If you care to do a "search", you'll find several postings on poison proofing your dog - it's actually a graded exercise in dog sports like KNPV and American Street Ring.

Actually, the "food refusal" part is the graded exercise for those dog sports that I mentioned- we don't actually poison the dogs or anything..... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

I delt with this same type of situation with pitbulls I had, my pits while on a cable, in my backyard, killed at separate times, both of my neighbors dogs, my dogs loved people very much, but was very dog aggressive. After being warned of them not letting their dogs come into my yard, wasn't long before the first one was killed. I was in the process of putting up a Privacy fence, but my dogs were confined to their yard, and they raised a big stink like it was my fault, This story turned into the front headlines on the local paper. I finally had to sit there with a camera ready at all times, and I would film their dogs running loose, then film the local paper for the date, and then call the animal control, if the dogs were put up by then, well I had proof on video, and they all started getting tickets, $100 dollars at a time. They will not let it rest, they will be waiting for your dog to mess up, so you must be responsible and HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE!! Video gotta love it

----CHRIS DUHON How true this statment is. And thanks for the heads up.
Update:
This past Monday, this neighbor of mine got her dogs back. I found this out last night while walking my dog. I noticed Treasure acting funny, like something was in the tall grass in front of us. So I stopped and tried to see what she was fixed on. Then like a shot out of a gun this lab game running at us. I shot this lab with mace. Treasure was trying her hardest to get to this dog. The mace did the trick and I was able to keep mine or this neighbors dog from getting hurt.
Once back home I called animal control and asked them to come get these dogs. Before someone got hurt, or the dogs get hurt. I also get six of my neighbors to call last night and this morning. So hopefully they will do something about these dogs and the owner. This is getting old and I am worried that one of these dogs is going to get hurt or killed.
I also setup two wireless cameras to record any movement in the front and back of my house. This way they can see that these dogs are loss all the time.

So let me get this straight, your dog has been attacked twice now, you have a professional k9 handler training your dog to refuse food, security cameras surveilling your yard, went out and got mace, called the animal control countless times, went through the trouble of having your neighbors write statements to back you up, and you haven't gone out and shot this owner with a 12 guage yet? You are a better man than I!
In all seriousness, I'm really sorry you have to go through all this hassle man. Some people are so ignorant when it comes to being responsible of their pets. I have a 3 year old American Bulldog that was only confronted by a loose dog once, the owner left his front door open, and as I walked by the house his dog charged my dog Bruno. Bruno, pretty calmy I might add, turned to get between me and the dog, and when the dog got there he initially got cold feet, then tried to bite my dog, my dog literally headbutted the other dog to get out of the way and grabbed his dog by the throat and pinned him to the ground. He just held him there, and the other dog gave up, the owner came running out and apoligized, I found it excusable since his front door could have been left open accidentally, and accepted.
I have never had anyone act the way that crazy b!tch in your neighborhood has.
I am constantly shown the ignorance of the general public every time I tell someone my dog is not a pitbull and they are like "phew! okay cool". Little do they know I lived the first 16 years of my life with a pitbull.
BTW my dog is trained to heel off leash, although I only do this late late at night. And I have noticed he shows no interest in other animals off leash, yet quite a bit on leash. This is now completely out of the question for your rotti, unfortunately.
Wow, I am way off topic so I will sum it up with this. Don't let this ladies ignorance in anyway make you believe you are even somewhat at fault here. You should be proud of what you accomplished for you, your dogs, and your neighborhood.
Theres no substitute for mans best friend. |
