Perhaps since I've recently started marker training with JD I could use this to return to "Enough"?
To me, the word is not important; compliance with the command is.
Zip It is a command which they have learned means "stop what ever annoying behavior you are doing". What are you going to gain by going to another word when you have one that they understand and it works?
You could have used "foofoo" for the command and as long as they comply - it is all good.
Good point. Best not to confuse the matter :-)
I'm not at all opposed to changing to another word if you have "corrupted" one... I began training "heel" but didn't do well and was not happy with how things were going. Found LB, read more, learned a bit more and changed to foos to retrain. So there IS a time to change commands for the same behavior, but not when they are doing fine on the word you chose. jmho.
I keep having the mad desire to figure out something I can use the command "foo-foo" for :-)

Say the word "Joey" and Missy does her best Cujo impersonation.
It started when I first got her and she was on edge and scared. She didn't like the "thump" of my brother's boots when he came in the house so she'd bark. As she became more comfortable, she'd bark more. Eventually she decided that she really did love Joseph, but the early association stuck. To this day she'll bark an alert if she hears his name in an excited tone. Or when he walks in the door (after which she immediately runs over for attention)
She also knows "go play with Pepper" - she trots over and happily noses the cat.

If I say the word "Duma" JD thinks it's his cue to go in hunt of the cat to stalk. I've resorted to calling the cat "Fatboy"
He of course also has toys with weird names like "squishy" and "woofy". I just got one of the buffalo hide toys from here and named it "buffy". Poor JD, not too much of a manly name for his toy!

It's not really funny to me, but I get weird looks from people when they hear me say it. Vader has to be walked on a leash for potty breaks, so he knows the command, "Go potty" and he also knows the difference between, "Go pee" and "go poop". He also knows "hurry up" and will pace quickly to get himself to go faster :p

Mine both know "go pee" and "go poop", too. JD still needs to be on a leash but I can open the door and send Callie out to pee and she comes right back. It's really nice when it's raining out.
I don't use "hurry up" but I do say "move it".
Callie barks to "woof" and JD barks to "yap". Callie also does "baby woof" which is almost a whisper. It's pretty comical coming from a 102# Rottie.

I am very thankful that we live out a bit so I don't have to worry about neighbors listening to me saying "go potty...go potty...GO potty...GO POTTTTYYYYY!" as I did in tonight's frigid air. (I was JUST able to keep the "dammit" part to myself... but ony JUST...)
Had I thought of the Beach Boys' song prior to training "go potty" I might just have had to use "go foofoo!" Although that really does almost require a maltese or teacup poodle to really make it work!

We had a client recently that told me I had to tell the dog to go "waa-waa's" to get a pee sample.

Oh good. I'm not the only one who remembers that.

I always imagine our neighbors not looking over the fence to see that I'm talking to dogs when I tell JD "stop biting your sister's butt!"
Hey! I could start telling him "NO foo foo!" :-)
