Yes we did!!! She loves doing the bite work, she gets all cocky when she wins. Makes tons of money for the local PD when we do demo's. In training her we have had to increase the thickness of gloves 3 times and she went through the thumb and finger on one pair of welding gloves.
There was a bit of a reason for doing it. My wife can't handle the big dogs and she wanted to train and learn about protection training so we trained the Mini. Send me a private e-mail on my home e-mail and I will send you a clip if you are interested in seeing her work.

Now come on, Van Camp, that's simple! Bichons and Yorkies can't bring down innocent bystanders like so much carrion or sink their inch-long canines into some poor kid the f-ups don't happen to like the looks of--so what kind of "fun" would they be? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" /> (I've been waiting for a long time for the opportunity to use Ed's personal pissed-off face...)

Too much has been made of the dog end of this incident, this case involves criminal and diviant behavior. Normal people (like most of those on this list) too often forget there is a section of society that does not think like the rest of us. The couple that owned these dogs are a perfect sick example.
I testified against Sabine Davidson (for 1 1/2 hours). She was a bitch. She deserved the 9 1/2 years in prison. She never apoligized to the parents of the boy her dogs killed. This couple has never apoligized to the partner of the women that was killed.
The couple in this case are scum, they deserve worse. There is little question that they are guilty. The wife is a nurse. She never attempted to save this lady. She deserves more than 9 1/2 years. She was directly involved in the death of this lady. While this poor women lie dieing on the floor - this lady was running around looking for the keys to her apartment.
I thought she was a trained EMT? Well, doesn't matter whether or not she had any medical training, she did nothing to help save the woman. I'm interested in this case from a legal standpoint, i.e., isn't it rare that this kind of thing gets a murder charge? Isn't it usually manslaughter or something lesser? Not that I don't think she deserves a murder charge.
A trained dog is considered a weapon. The type of training the dog has can move the dog up or down on the continum of force. If the dog is trained to kill it will no longer fit as a non-leathal weapon. In any case the owner has a responsibilty to prevent any dog from becoming a public hazard.
The idea behind this as a murder charge is that the owners new the dogs were trained to kill and did not protect the public from them. With murder charges there is a continu, that starts with a planned murder and continues down through doing something stupid that gets someone killed. The jury can convict on a lower charge without redoing the trial.
Ed has some good articles on this subject and there is a web site, http://www.dogbitelaw.com, that is written for everybod from the public through attorneys. It is very interesting, but can be a little tough to read.
