When Ingrid sees the skull and cross bones shaved on Mojo's thighs, well, she might feel a tingle up her leg...

I prefer hearts, but the boys all say that is too girly for a boy horse. They even made me get rid of the burgundy blankets... The consensus was, that the skulls made him look more manly, and that was the only way they would ride him!
I usually go with the moon and stars you can see in his fur year old shot. He gets such a thick winter coat here that with our 80 degree temps in the winter ( ) he has to get body clipped from November to March.

Toddlers sure ARE biohazards. They can really cook up some virus! Passes around from kid to kid, by the time it comes to your house it is virulent!
Our horses:
JoJo's Legacy -- t-bred mare, l990 model-raced, won 3, had 3 fillies that raced
Wheels--1/4 horse, big engine barrel horse, rope horse, 14 yrs
Paula---guarter horse mare, sweet, barrel + pole horse,12 yrs
They are all just hay burners at this point.

I'm in an awkward phase right now where we don't actually have a horse, but I've had them most of my life.
I grew up with ponies as a child, and rode Morgans in the 80's. I love warmbloods but never seem to have the funds for my own. I've had a couple of Thoroughbreds, one of them off the track. I love Thoroughbreds but they are challenging dressage horses. Their extended gaits are big and free, but collecting them is a job of work.
Most recently I went from rider to coach, and helped my daughter (with other talented folks) to train her Thoroughbred cross for eventing. I think I enjoyed watching her (except for the cross-country jumping which scared me) more than I enjoyed competing myself
My last horse was a big ol' Percheron that I free leased. He was a BLAST.

I have 3 pasture ornaments.
Breeze is my coming 26 year old Arab mare. She has been retired and just gets to hang around. I used to do cross country and dressage with her, and she was a champion back in the day. I've had her since she was 3. I thought I was going to lose her last weekend to colic.
Winchester is my coming 7 year old Belgian Draft gelding. We adopted him when he was 2. He had been sent to slaughter at 18 months. Win is saddle broke and drives. Paul uses him to haul logs as well.
Win and Breeze .. note the size difference.
Win the day he came to live with us.
Bullet is our rescued Arab gelding. He came from down the road... his previous owner wasn't very consistent when it came to feeding, so Bullet would come over to our bale and chow down. After 5 consecutive days of fixing fence in sub 0 weather, Paul just left him in the pasture. We came home later that day and there was a note on the door saying, "looks like you have a new horse. If you want him, keep him. If not ship him." and signed by the owner. We couldn't ship him so he's been with us since. He's about 20 years old and we've had him now for about 4 years. Bullet is broke to ride and is pretty smoothe.
** Bullet has never tried to break out of our pasture since the day we let him stay.. he appears to be content now.

Do you have a pic of your POA guy? I had a little POA gelding growing up and he will always have a special place in my heart. When I decided I was too big for him (he was only about 12.5 hands) and I sold him I cried for days. Fortunately he went to a little girl who adored him and as far as I know the family kept him for the rest of his life.

Hi, I have a 16.3hh off-track TB who is now 17, I've had her since she came off track at 4. My new addition is a breeding stock paint filly who will be 3 at the end of march. I hope to event her but I do a little bit of everything with my horses. They're my passion in life.
My animals are not "like" family, they ARE family. |
