I've considered bringing a German trainer to my dog but he wouldn't get into the crate
Did you toss in high-value treats?
And leave the door open at first?

I have been thinking that I have reach my limit of my experience with my pack. Yes, will continue with my club. But now that I see I have very good dog's and have some time to get my monies strait. To go to a reliable trainer in Germany for about a month
What do you say? my male father is from Javir talka Marda. and the female is from grandfather is Merlin von conforte ( Pedro). and mom is from Krafwerk line.
My pack is what is keeping me level. Please give me your experience, and impute plus I still have Michael.
Michael Ellis, not as a second choice, but happy to know he is there. I really need some guidance. Dan
Why in the world would you be thinking of Germany when M.E. is here in this country?
Agreed. I'm taking JD to the 2 week Intensive OB course in Fairfield, CA in Sept
It's going to be my anniversary present to myself
Last year I got a puppy bite pillow. Hmmmm....me thinks I see a trend here

Why are people under the illusion that Germany has great things and the U.S. sucks!! Watch the Mondio ring http://leerburg.com/playem.htm?name=flv/4-12-10-news.flv and tell me that we don't have one of the best trainers here!! P.s. you'll notice in the videos that the winners appear in some of the free Ellis videos Ed offers!! Hint hint..
Also I have seen a lot and I mean A LOT of "German" dogs and trainers and have yet to be really impressed ( Mr. Flinks being exempt of course ) A great amount of the dogs that people get from there are left over show "German" ring junk.. Toss on a SCH 1 title and we buy up their C*#p all day..
Michael Ellis is one of the best trainers to come along in a long while. Take advantage while you can. A month in Germany and you'll learn a lot about schnitzel not training. A month with Michael can change your life with you dog forever. JMO passionately. lol

It's been a while since I visited a German Schutzhund club but there was a lot of 'old school' going on.
It may difficult to find a 'suitable' club.

Why are people under the illusion that Germany has great things and the U.S. sucks!!
I fully agree... I have been in countless arguments with people that don't seem to get it because they put all their eggs in the German basket. In fact, people are awfully hateful about it.
I got on a forum a while back asking some questions regarding training and acceptable correction and stuff because I don't know the difference, so I gave instances from 4 different clubs...where I saw something questionable basically asking for advice from the people on the site, and they all told me to "shut the >>>> up and close my mouth and to learn".... they kept saying crap like "you have no idea what you have over there, you are so lucky, and you question their methods......" and blah blah blah... so, anyways..... Its a bunch of BS that the people buy into the "German" thing. and the German dog thing..... talk about some idiot neurotic dogs.... WOW.... MOM....
Over here, to say you train SchH dogs is about the equivalent of being in the U.S. and saying you like harley davidson's and nascar.... for real.... I am not joking. ..The chicks come out all hardcore with hardcore makeup and big hair and leather pants,... the men are all "manly" and blowin smoke in the dog's faces....... It's like the "rough" backwoods crowd that loves it here! hahahahahaha. So, whoever feels like getting in my face about this, feel free, I know I'll catch some heat, but I like this thread because as ALL of you have pointed out, some of the best trainers in the world are RIGHT there in the states and SPEAK YOUR LANGUAGE!!!!!!! hahahahaha...
Furthermore, there have been MORE than a handful of German SchH trainers and handlers that have told me, TRAIN YOUR DOG IN ENGLISH... because,.... their language when being used in life and in training, has many words that are soooo similar... such as "FINE" and "NEIN"... I really have been told this by people in the sport for decades.
So.... I wasn't trying to start an argument, just saying that I agree with everyone's postings, and trying to show the other side of the fence a bit..... This side blows hole sometimes hahahahhahhahaha

Oh and about the dogs....... lol The crap people in the states buy is like you said, junk..... dime a dozen dogs..... and CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP over here. Even the shottiest kennels over here regularly ship dogs to the states as "german working" or "german show" big dollar pups and dogs and the fact of the matter is..... people buy it! I haven't seen a dog here worth what they can get the americans to pay for em. These crappy kennels also have Americans coming over to buy the puppies .... I CAN:T IMAGINE!!!!!! I've had 2 myself and while they are good dogs, what the people coming over pay is OUTRAGEOUS. The breeder I got my male from made a joke about it actually. Sad......

Danielle,
I didn't want so say it so clear like you but you are right. It's sad but it's the truth.
Sure there are exceptions but you have to do a lot of research.

I sure wish I could get a picture of the inside of one of my client's 4700 sq. foot garage ( yes, 4700 sq.). The one which houses his Harleys, racecar and speedboats. JUST might change your somewhat narrow view of people who enjoy a few of the finer things in life... He is one of the wealthiest folks I know personally, and he has all his teeth and doesn't sport a single tattoo! (And - NO offense taken - just had to chuckle to myself.)
LOVE the sound of a Harley.... deep sigh. Maybe in my next life.
Back to the topic of going to Germany to train.

@ Barbara... I didn't mean to sound narrow minded......... I don't care for Nascar, but that's just personal opinion..... The point was, it's a particular "group" here....... ... I am also part German... I also smoke and have tattoos, drink beer and luv to ride me one of them der Harleys... so, it's just the irony of it all that makes me laugh. I only say this stuff because it's funny what people get in their heads.
All my german friends say... "NO...... Don't take your cute puppy to nazi dog school!" hahahahahahahahaha..... Even the vet says this..... hahahahahahaha crack me up. All the americans that like shepherds and rotts and SchH say... "Oh my god... oh my god... blah blah blah...." that's why I was making a joke about it. I'm sure not narrow minded I'm pretty equal opportunity... I make fun of everything, including myself. So, now back to the subject.

awhile back on a north American GSD forum a trained decoy from Germany asked if someone would sponsor him, basicaly give him a place to stay while on a tourist visa. I research the fellow and he was everything he said he was so I posted a pic of him from his German Sch forum on the site, that was a mistake. He was a handsome young man and the post went downhill from there. Most all the women on the forum wanted him for much more then decoy work ;} and I guess he thought the price was to high. Didn't hear from him again.
