Blimey, no one in their right mind would want to be the Queen, all that inbreeding!
Lol... I agree about not wanting to be the queen, but isn't it thePp the system which causes the inbreeding? I think Will always lived in the states and just moved to the state of his choice. "

So we do have freedom, but our system was originaly set up with a decent amount of elitism as well. Not all of the people in the beginings of our country believed in the citizens having power.
They set up a system that fostered freedom. A system that was radically different for that day and age. Changing the culture takes time. The founders left a system where only the elite had any say over anything. And nothing you did in life could really change that. The new system they set up wasn't perfect, and they knew that. There was great compromises made that many of them weren't happy with, but they knew it had to be done to establish a country with a ground work for freedom.

Here in a social democartie you have lots of option, you can vote for a lunatic, a stupid or egocentric. They all are very good at pointing fingers and making promisses but we ain't going no were. We pay taxe and pay taxe on the taxe, welcome to Canada even better come to Quebec, WE ARE DIFFERENT, ya right it just cost more to get any thing do here.
Governement just found out about corruption in the construction world, WOW every one know about it, but we had to dish a big chunk of $$ just to make sure.

Mara, that compromise is exactly what I'm talking about. It lead to a lot of great things and it was undoubtedly a giant shift. What I meant by what I said is that a lot of the people involved were wealthy, and didn't neccisarily believe in the public having direct influence. Personal freedom, while a blessing of enourmous proportions, is different from influence.
A lot of people like to think that our founding fathers were PO'd regular joes. Its not really the case. Luckily, the outcome of what they created eneded up pretty darn good. We are absolutely lucky to be Americans.
My point is that we do have royalty, just in a different form. Most people would be surprised to find out how many people who have held influential positions in our country are not only related to eachother to the point of inbreeding, and wealthy beyond the imagination of the average person, but also related to Prince Charles.
Old money is everywhere. They always get a lot of say. Just more in some places than others.

Okay guys, this is going to take patience on your part, umm that and probably a note pad and pencil. Fair warning, this is no sound bite.
If you listen to this guy you'll find that while he does come from what some may term as the enemy, you'll also find that many of his points are relevant to what you're living now, no matter what side of the aisle or the continent you happen to be on.
It is important to recognize who the perpetrators (if that's the right word) really are.
So listen through what he has to say before turning it off, or condemning.

Well, a political thread has been allowed to stand (although this is not, repeat not, a usual occurrence here), so I'll wave my paw to say that this guy's book, whether every single point resonates or not, and despite a little heavyhandedness in parts, was for me a compelling and frightening vision of the death of checks against and balancing of corporate interests, and about the widening divide between "real people" and the corporate and moneyed oligarchy. There is no one among us who isn't affected by this divide. I agree that examining the players widening the gap is crucial to us, and also that we Democrats and Republicans (and other!) are probably playing into the hands of the real players with our political-party warfare ... at least, we're failing to stand back and look at the (or a) larger picture.
OK, climbing on down down ....

I've listened once and took notes, and will listen again before replying.
