I just bring them home and tell the hubby I found them. I make it seem like I'm looking for a home, but not really. After a while, he just gets used to them being there and doesn't say anything. This last one he made me promise it was the last (10 dogs) - I said ok - which means - ok for about 6 months or so.........
The only animal I've ever brought home without pre-agreement was a tiny kitten. We were newly weds and one night I almost hit a little kitten in the gutter on the side of the road; it was pouring down rain. I stopped and picked her up, brought her home and dried her off. Doug was at work so I put the chain on the front door and later, when he attempted to open the door, I stuck my head in the opening and said sweetly "honey, are you in the mood for a little "kitty" - although that was not the word I used at the time.... Then I showed him the tiny kitten. Ditto lived with us until she died from natural causes at the ripe ol' age of 19. This was 35 years ago.
Aside from that one instance, we have always checked with each other prior to making a large purchase and before bringing home another animal. Animals impact everyone in the household in one form or another, whether through actual care or financially, so it only seems right that everyone is on board.
Mine would notice and shout NO too..lol Im always fostering or watching a pet for a friend and he is really understanding but refuses to have a third dog in the house plus all of my good deeds . Darn husbands...
Although I had watched this one that needed a home (the one we couldn't figure what her breed was) and by the end of it he was falling for her and I think if she would have been there one more week she would have been ours .

Betty that's AWESOME! Is that his pic there on your page? Also, sorry I missed this -but what kind of dog is that? He's very, very cool looking -love the one with him and the bull -the black and white contrast -very striking, I'd frame it for sure..
It'll be fun to see this litter grow a bit second-hand...mama is so protective only my trainer can get close for now!
I guess I am so used to Paul's accepting nature... I never have to ask or even explain when I bring a critter home He actually bonds more quickly than I do with the new animal!!
Oh, you guy's husbands are lucky, last week I bought another BULL......
Mine (before we were married, however) came home from diving one day to find me in the driveway holding an 8wk old fluffy Rottie puppy saying "but how could you resist this face????".

I brought so many critters home when I was a kid that if mom saw even a bird in the yard she didn't recognize she's just smack me in the head....no questions asked.
