I love Izzy and want was is best for her.
She is my first official dog and want a well rounded dog that I can have in public and sit at my feet when I'm at Starbucks.
Actually, I find Starbucks to be a great location for socializing (meaning allowing my dog to watch people coming and going in a relaxed atmosphere). We sit at a table outside - I am relaxed, with my favorite beverage, and my dog picks up on that - and most people will ask before approaching and I just say "no, she's uncomfortable with strangers". And unlikely for someone be there with an unleashed dog.
ROFL. I'm the lady outside Starbucks with an unleashed dog. BUT, mine is holding his down stay nicely.
It is a great alternative to the overcrowded pet store. Have you considered getting Izzy a training cape? You can find patches that say 'DO NOT PET' and 'IN TRAINING' Sometimes they work to deter people from bothering you- other times it seems to increase attention.
Today I was walking Izzy when I heard this weird deep sound behind us when all of a sudden a white shepherd was trying to attack Izzy growling and fixated on her it happened all of a sudden Izzy was behind me and the dog in front with my stick keeping him at bay. every time he tried to get her
I told him to go away and keep my stick on him eventually the owner came and got his dog he apologized and left.
Izzy kept looking behind her to make sure the dog was not coming back. I was calm because he did not get her so I continued my walk .eventually she stopped looking back and we had a good walk but I am wondering will this have a lasting effect?
I am so glad I followed your guys instructions to walk with a stick or else the outcome could have been different.
