Just forget the out for now.
Why would you punish a puppy with no more play for not complying to something he has no idea about?
Take the two toys out, while he's got one you can start playing with the other one. Get his interst in it, keep playing with the toy you've got. Sooner or later he's going to want the toy you're playing with and he'll split out the one he's holding. Allow him to get or throw (whatever) the toy your playing with and pick up the one he spit out......repeat.
When he does catch on that he gets one as soon as the other leaves his mouth. THEN you can start putting an out word with it just before every time he spits out the toy.
But don't punish him for something he doesn't know.
Yeah. I know there's some thought about two ball not being good, but It worked well for the out and running to me full speed.
These "Hose" style toys are his favorite: http://www.ruffdawg.com/play/products/sticks.php
I like the hoses because a tug game can always be mixed in and you don't have to worry about any wierd hops twisting the dog up badly.
Nah, I don't buy anything special, I just cut a couple of lenghts some coolant hose off the roll. 2 foot 3/4 hose probably costs about a buck and a half at the local.

If I remember correctly, two ball has been accused of creating chewy bites.
thank you thank you thank you Aaron! and everyone else too.
his fav is a rag. and i only have one. (hubby hates it when i tear up old towls..thinks he can use them more efficiently as oil rags in the garage). BUT I WILL be making another one here in a few mins. get the long line. and try that for a few days aaron.
I have NO clue how you knew about the dirty bites! but it was kinda neat how you guessed right on.
oh and will not use the word till he absolutley drops his first toy and goes for the second. i'll start with a not so fav toy..and then trade for his rag. don't know why i didn't think of that before. maybe i was too causght up in "thinking" sometimes I over think and get so worked up on one thing..that i forget about others.
Thanks again all!
oh and he's 12 weeks some odd days old..and i want him to out at this age because i want him to learn that these are MY toys and it is much more fun to play with me because then and only then can he hold onto a toy. Even though i had a brain fart I hope to be back on the correct track now. and will be forever greatful for all the help advice and smacks over the head with a newspaper
