And get ones that fit your hand really well- It's a pain to have loose fitting gloves. Thankfully they are FINALLY making gloves that actually fit womens hands. In great colors, too
I have a buddy who's DS rammed into her on his BH. Judges comment was 'enthusiastic' recall or something to that effect. He (the dog) had a braking malfunction.
Here's my story - and best of all it didn't happen to me!!
I was playing with Kipp in the yard and doing a little OB type work. Sometimes I'll put him in a stay and as soon as I say "free" he charges me for the tug reward. Which I hold carefully out to one side because he charges and grabs with everything he's got. My 20 something brother goes, "hey, can I do that?". sure why not. So he puts Kipp in a stay takes the toy and attempts to do what I did. Except he firmly holds the toy the wrong way and right in front of his knees to boot. Big mistake. He got bit and slammed in the knees at the same time. Little 30# BC left him reeling.
Getting gnawed on by a teething canine hurts like hell regardless of whether you are raising a WL GSD or Mal, a herding BC or a small, white, fuzzy lap dog.
I'd want my dog, regardless of what we are training, to learn he can bite like hell on a sleeve, tug or bad guy, but if he hits my bare arm or hand, he best lighten up.
I do understand the need to develop the ability to move more quickly, but don't see how getting your hand ripped open makes you a better trainer. Maybe I'm missing something. Braggin' rights?
