cattle have high PH urine. Carnivores are often neutral to acid. UTI can accompany hi PH, but not always. It's just the body getting rid of some base to get back to 7.
It doesn't always "mean" anything IMO (or, maybe I've forgotten--that's possible too!)
I would hesistate to cut that hair because it could cause further irritation from the sharp hairs left behind. Sanitary trims are good for cleanliness and air flow, but its normally done with a shorter blade and can sometimes cause irritation. Especially if the dog already has sensitive skin.
Hair around the vulva helps track urine away in most cases.
Cutting hair there --can be super irritating. THe dog may have created what Jessica
described already by constantly digging and nibbling, the prickly short hair
rash.
Melissa- I'm sure you've tried this (or currently do it) but with the vaginal fold irritation- do you keep the hair around the vulva clipped short?
Kelly, I really don't have to as she is not very hairy...a fact the vet kindly explained to me lol. I use a combination of cleaning/drying, diaper rash cream and an herbal ointment to keep it under control.
And thank you so much, Connie. I will look through it all today. Regarding the ACV, I can only find anecdotal evidence currently, but it was mentioned in one of Lew Olson's article...I think, as I read a lot last night.
