Wishing your pup a nice formed pooter as his Easter present.....
That made me giggle. Just what I needed after a stressful night. He whined and cried most of it, and for some reason had to pee a lot.
No, he's not straining at all from what I can tell, and I do watch him go. He just gets into a squat and it shoots out. The few times I've caught him doing it in the house and tried to rush him outside he couldn't stop pooping until it was almost gone.
I'm off to dice up chicken! I'll pick up some white rice today and make that up for him from now on. I never use it myself.
When you cook the rice, cook it with way more water and for longer than normal. I usualy use 3 cups of water to one cup of rice and cook it for forty five minutes to an hour.
I didn't have enough time to get white rice and cook it before going out of town Sunday, but he DID have semi firm, turd shaped stool! This morning he had to poop a lot, but instead of turning to mush, it held together. The brown rice isn't digesting, so I'm boiling white rice now.
Poor little guy looks so thin and is SO hungry. This morning when I let him out of his kennel he went and found the plastic container I've been putting his water in and carried it around until I asked if he was hungry and he spit it out at my feet.
Keep up the chicken and rice. You can increase the amount you feed by increasing the number of meals, not the amount at each meal. If you are feeding him 5x, increase it to 7 or 8 if you are home enough to do this. The goal is not to overload his system with a huge bomb of food which will send you right back to diarrhea.
I'm glad he's better. Others can help you to balance his diet later in the week. How's the prolapse?
The prolapse seems to be getting better. I'm going to call the vet today to see if one of the side affects is increased urination. All Saturday night, and all Sunday he had huge amounts of watery pee. I'm not sure if it's because he's having 'too much' water now that he's not got liquid poo, or if it's the medication.
