OMG my heart was in my throat as I read through your post. Thank goodness for feisty little terriers, huh? It is unbelievable that the authorities cannot do anything about this. What about that stray? Was it killed? Did it get away? Was it someone's dog, lost and in the wrong place at the wrong time?
I hope little Turbo (and you) make a full recovery and are able to figure out how to enjoy peace and security on your own property.

I'm so happy to hear the initial prognosis is good! But I have to ask... did they pick him up, or shake him at all? I would keep spreading his fur over the next 12 hours to watch his skin for bruising. You might also hear/feel a weird "crackly" feeling to his skin, which is subcutaneous emphysema - common with bite wounds from larger animals. That will dissipate, but a lot of bruising, combined with a bit of abnormal behaviour, and I would take him to the vet. He is pretty small, you could probably fit get a whole shot of him on 1 x-ray plate. That, combined with some professional palpation, could either put him in the clear, or...
I hate to be a downer, I just like to play it safe!
I'm so glad that Turbo is alright.

Wow. I hope Turbo will be fine, both mentally and physically.
You will surely think of something, Michael. Don't let them get away with this!

Poor Turbo. I'm so very sorry Michael. Hopefully things will be right again after these storms pass through.
Watch for bruises under the fluff the next couple days. They should be fairly easy to spot on a white dog if they're bad.

Oh, Michael!!!!!
I am so sorry, but so thankful he's ok, that your son is ok, that you are ok, but enraged. As you should be, as we all are for you and our Turbo.
I have to read the rest of this thread now.

Mike
You need to watch Turbo in case he goes into shock. Make sure he stays warm and get him to the vet if you suspect it.
Agreed that any lethargy or odd behavior would warrant a trip to the vet.
Is there any swelling or painful areas?
I sure hope he's alright.

Obviously he was a little weird right after, but recovered quickly. He acts perfectly fine.
We went to our dog friends in the neighborhood and warned them about the dog's bring able to leave the yard while power was out. Turbo was fine as normal with our everyday dog acquaintances.
He even brought the frisbee out of the garage to me, so we finished playing before we called it a night.
I gave him a good bath, and was able to look and feel him over well. There is absolutely nothing out of the ordinary. Nothing tender. No bruising so far, but I'll definitely keep a closer eye on him. I let him loose in a favorite smelling spot and just observed him tonight. It was business as usual.
There wasn't any shaking. More pressing him into the ground. I don't know if he was too squirmy or what. I don't care, he's alive and unscathed.
I don't know how I'm gonna do it with no help from authorities, but there won't be a next time. I'll carry in the yard, I don't care. It won't happen again. It just won't. I hate to go all Billy Bad Ass, but those dog's will not ever breathe off that property. I HAVE to assume bad intentions if they are outside their boundary with no physical containment. I'm not going to look for trouble, and will avoid them like the plague, but I'm not waiting for trouble to come back my way either.
