IMO, there's no particular need for puppies to be fed any differently than adult dogs---except they need more calories as a percentage of their body weight to compensate for growth.
Agree!! ^^
Think about the way kids eat - once they're eating solid food, the parent gradually works in the same food that everyone else eats. No special "child food" just healthy food in the proper amount!

I'd actually go one step further and say that "puppy" kibble is mostly a marketing ploy. The only thing sillier are kibbles that are marketed as breed-specific. There's no reason at all for a puppy food to be nutritionally "enriched." (Unless the adult formula is such crap that it couldn't sustain a growing puppy because they couldn't possibly eat enough of it.)
The only actual difference I could see is the size of the kibble pieces. A smaller mouth might need a smaller kibble.
Like Bob stated: I would switch at 6 months of age to an adult formula. You want a pup's growth to be slow & natural. Those puppy & large breed pup foods grow a dog faster then nature has intended then to grow. This extra size & weight plays havic with growing skelletal systems & can cause issues later in life.
This is one of the reasons many of us feed raw. Especially to young pups to keep the growth SLOW. Just like nature intended.
***NOTE***
I will also add that raw for a pup, if not done PERFECTLY correct, will cause far MORE harm then feeding puppy kibble. So unless you have been feeding raw already or have done TONS & TONS of research .,.,you are better to stick to kibble. As stated here many times...learning to feed raw to a puppy is no the place to begin where it is CRITICAL to have everything perfectly BALANCED.
