My intention was not to hurt any one's sentiments by this thread, but I was rather upset that even in BBC (Which we think of as gold standard of journalism) that the population factor was never spoken about by panel of experts.
This is intellectual dishonesty. There is simply not enough in this world, so that every body can have every thing. And more people there are the more this divide is going to be.
I wanted to spread what I have studied and learnt about the impact our population has on our future.
Also I was not talking about population control in the US or UK. I was merely saying that these Intellectually dishonest apologists in BBC show should tell their societies why this is really happening rather than "Playing to the crowd".
Also please read "Collapse" by Jarred Diamond if you get a chance. It is a great book on societies that vanished and why they vanished
Jarred Diamond has made some interesting points but has made some glaring errors and his tendency to group people as either"evil europeans" or "noble savages" is a bit irritating. He gives little regard to culture as a reason for a populations success or failure.

'Zackly.
We have one earth. Colors and shapes of countries on a model of it, on a classroom "globe," become almost irrelevant in a discussion of the resources of and the effect of human population on this one earth.
It's hard to take a long view like this. It's hard to back up far enough to see this one earth and its human population as a whole (for me, anyway). For me, it's one of my most important practices: to try to strip away every political, racial, ethnic, philosophical, cultural "difference" (many of them profound indeed) and try to see this at-root sameness: we all have this one resource, with no backup in the planetary storage cellar.
And of course, there are plenty of less global issues to focus on along the way as we struggle to grasp that vision.
JMO! Two cups of coffee later, as Mike Arnold might say ....
I did not find that in collapse, may be in Guns steel and germs. Also I firmly believe that if the Indians had the wherewithal to conquer UK, hey would have. It is human tendency rather than european thing.
India's population growth rate is 1.4%. that means in an other 50-60 years at this rate we will be 2.2 billion. Global rate is 1.1 % which means that in 65-70 years there will be twice as many people , almost majority having no future

And I know that we can keep the thread completely out of the kind of political discussion that can't do anything but damage on a dog board. So far, so good!
