I scared a post office worker once picking up a box. She could not find it so she asked if it was a big or small box. I said small it is a bit. But that was in french.
a bit is "mord" but sound just like dead "mort" the way I said it, it sounded as if I was picking up a dead body.
Love this thread!
My daughter (then 7) is very much into calves and *kind of* knows how they are made. Upon her teachers announcement of her pregnancy, Chloe raises her hand and says "Congratulations! Was it live cover or AI?" We learned very quickly that much more needed to be explained about tact
In another stock cow conversation about new bulls I told my husband. "No! I want black babies, not brown ones." and he says "What's wrong with brown ones?" I say "They aren't as cute and if we sell them, they're worth less." We had to explain, as we were standing in line at the grocery store and got a piercing glare from the bi-racial couple standing in front of us. My husband is noticeably part Native and the couple thought we were talking about our own future together. Lesson learned: Don't call calves babies, regardless of how much you love them

Along the same lines there is a young lady that is now 13 that bought a pup from me when she was 10. She spends weekends with us and is one heck of a kennel assistant.
Russ and I don't have kids and this girl is sneaky. She will ask the same questions adults would and participates very well in conversations. It is quite easy to forget that you are talking to a child.
So her and her mother are in the car one day driving to the store and this young lady starts telling her mother all about AI's and how the semen is collected, stored, shipped and implanted.
After mom regained control of her car she started asking her questions. She was amazed at both her knowledge and her use of the proper terms.
Her mom, thank God, calls me up laughing, and said she couldn't believe she was having such a conversation with her then 11 year old daughter but was amazed at how much knowledge she had and how she explained everything.
Even when her mom tried to caution her on how certain subjects are not appropriate for certain audiences, she laughed and said she already knew that. She wasn't planning on talking about frozen semen with daddy or the grandparents.
Betty, I have "snooped" on your website (Beautiful dogs btw!Bogie is gorgeous!) That young lady sounds amazing!
Love that she knew not to speak semen with the grandparents I think kids are a lot smarter than we give them credit for sometimes.
Connie, I had to supress the "which is it?" question myself, as this teacher was not exactly young, and single. I think that's possibly why she was so offended
We had indoor outdoor cats growing up, and always attempted to call them inside for the night. One evening, I went out side, calling the cats. "Here Pussy pussy pussy pussy!! Here Pussy!!!!" as loud as I could. My Mom flipped out, and I just didn't get why.
We lived in a very rural area, so I'm sure no one heard, but my very very Lutheran mother was horrified.
