the metal used is expanded has the small openings. you can buy it at farm stores if you can cover the sharp edges you will be ok the is not much to make the guards. ask a k9 handler if you can take a pic if not i can post a pic next week at training. they are nice you can have your windows down also if you go to a auto supply you can buy a cheap auto radiator cooling fan they work great
Pretty cool Jamie, but what if someone cut the straps? That would be my main concern. Maybe if you could replace them with metal strapping of some sort?
jamie the guards look good i wonder how heavy they are? could they withstand a malinois bouncing off them. lol i like how the are attached, saves drilling holes in your door window frame.
John, I don't think Jamie has a mal, but I sure do and he'll do just about anything to follow me when I leave him in the car. I'll give my own report on the quality and functionality of the guards within the month.
I don't have a Mal (may have mal in him according to DNA test) he's been "crate trained" to the car though and has never been a crate breaker....I'd be interested to see how how they hold up. I'm thinking my best bet may be to screw in 5 inches of plexiglass with holds drilled all over it to the top of my window, then I can role my windows down 3-4 inches safetly...My father suggested that and my car is so old now it's not going to hurt the resale value lol, I'm going to be its last owner....
They were made of a sheet of metal with little holes all over. He said it is used as a foot board type material for tractors and such. Solid metal supports were added because Quinn was pretty angry with people walking past my car. It was sandwiched between the door and the frame of the car and held on the door with airline Velcro, so they were removable. The sandwiching gave it a ton of integrity.
Since it was black, and the windows were tinted, it was all but invisible with the windows up...
