The Hilton tends to be pet friendly ^_^ A lot of the conventions I go to are in those and I can always bring Ryuk along. They're nice too, not huge pet deposits, and they're great about staying out of your room if you wish
Ben, i would love to go to Maine. We honeymooned in VT and have even thought about moving to New England at retirement. I think this is the same place that a patient of ours at the office I work at has given me a flyer about that they love so much. I didn't give it much thought because we weren't gpoing to Maine at the time. Unfortunately this trip is just a weekend. :-(
Hint: stop by a local of any of the hotel brands named (motel 6, Super 8, etc.) and pick up one of their books that list all their hotels. Some will be highlighted in a different color (for example blue). These will be the better choices for the most part, often ones that have been recently upgraded, or acquisitions.
And Motel 6 as well as Studio 6 allows large dogs.
It's all vacation rentals by owner. There are houses, cottages, cabins, you name it in tons of different cities and countries even. We have used them a lot now and many times it's cheaper to rent a whole house than a hotel room. Click on the state you want to visit and up comes links for all the cities available, then click on the city. The rentals that allow pets, and there are a lot, have a paw print next to them. There are pics and descriptions of all the properties and you email the owners for info. We love it!
