The home visit went very well! Dieks is in his new home and his new owner is very, very happy to have him. I did really well until it was time to go. I gave him a big kiss on the nose and told myself "I'm not gonna cry! Not gonna do it!" Dieks wanted to run out with me instead of stay and then I lost it The 3.5 hour drive home was very quiet without the jingle of his collar. But I know he will be very happy being the center of John's world.
My dogs are really calm tonight. Probably the calmest they have been in the last couple months. I think they know that I just need a little time to reflect on the changes taking place around here.
Tomorrow is a new day and we will miss the pitter patter of giant German Shepherd feet here, but we will be Ok. Tanner will be coming to play for the days and a new routine will form.
I'm going to miss that big black nose to kiss and the way Dieks would scoot back about 10 feet in a sit or down when he was super excited about our training sessions, and about a million other things but am hoping him all the best with his new buddy. Going to go mix myself a nice strong drink and head to bed. It has been a day...
Enjoy your drink and rest peacefully knowing that you kept this pup out of the shelter system and gave him some great skills that can only benefit him on his journey and life with his new owner.
I know it wasn’t easy for you and commend you for your dedication to finding him this wonderful home.
Yay Dieks… good life young man. Amy, you did a really great thing!!!

Thanks Ladies! Today I am thinking positively. We are going to start working on a fun new project to keep me busy. Haz is going to go for his CGC and Tanner is going to learn a solid recall (HA! maybe)
Thanks again for the support and kind words. You really made a difference for my "poor me" attitude!
