yes that's split into two, usually 2 cups AM & 2 cups PM. However, sometimes doesn't eat a cup in the morning so it's 3 cups PM.

If i were you i would try splitting up the feedings even more if you can.
3 cups at one feeding for a 50lb dog seems like alot to me.
Even if it isn't every day.
If a dog is eating too much at one sitting it can cause diarrhea.
Any chance you can split the feedings to 3 times a day and see what happens?
I think you said you were using a Grain Free Kibble, right?

The Panacur is a good idea , it will rule out worms.
Coccidia is another agent that can cause intermittent loose stool.

Splitting up the feedings shouldn't be a problem.
She had pretty loose & bloody stool today. Although, she's had bloody stool in the past and it hasn't pointed to anything serious, should I be concerned?
She started on the Panacur yesterday.
Thanks everyone!

A loose and bloody stool can be because the movement was so violent that blood vessels were injured, not always a dire sign, but not a good thing either. More a characteristic of coccidia and hookworm or salmonella than giardia IME. I'd do the Panacur and if there is no resolution in short order, run a fecal.
If the dog's attitude changes, or it goes off feed it should see someone soon.
If this stool happens with this food and not others I would stop feeding the offending kibble. Sometimes the information on the bag can be so convincing that a person ignores the fact---I feed this stuff, my dog gets sick.

Please note Claire that Im not suggesting that the large feeding amounts is your only problem.
From what im ready (bloody stool) it sounds like there are might be underlying factors that Betty suggested.
But giving the pup smaller amounts of food 3 times a day will make things a bit easier on his stomach.
Someone correct me if Im wrong, but I think that some of the High protein low grain kibbles are difficult for some dogs to process.
I had horrible luck with Orijen on my guy. This is gross to describe but his poop would always start out firm but then the end would always be very loose. And he had horrible gas. So I switched to Acana. I don't think it's totally grain free, but the protein levels are lower and he does really well on that.

Small amts of food multiple times per day is a real good idea.
I've fed Taste of the Wild off and on. My dogs don't seem satisfied by the amount I need to feed to keep their weight in check. The feeding "event" is over in 2 seconds.
Went back to raw.

Wendy and Betty, do you think it would be a good idea to switch to a different food, perhaps with more grain (or rice)? I've switched from TOTW to Canidae with no improvement.
She pooped three times this morning and I'll describe them below (so sorry to those who are grossed out, but I think it will paint a better picture of what is going on):
First poop was formed but soft. Second poop was formed but softer (at the tail end of it there was mush) and the third poop was loose with blood (although not watery). yesterday I noticed a greenish tinge, but overall the poop is just lighter in color.
Do you think it would be a good idea to fast her? Perhaps to let her gut rest? As of right now I'm doing 3 meals a day, about 1.5 to 1 cup per feeding.

My guess is that there is some pathology causing this condition, worms, coccidia, giardia or intestinal infection.
I would put the dog on a ration that soothes the GI tract, like the chicken and rice.
The correct thing to do is to at least try to get a diagnosis and base treatment on those results.
It may be that the diagnostic tests prove useless, this sometimes does happen, and you end up just giving metronidazole +Albon and deworming the dog. But it would be correct practice to have a fecal performed, and it might yield useful information that would guide your Rx and save money in the long run.

Are you familiar with the soothing overcooked-white-rice diet? Yes, I do think a short fast before starting it is beneficial, and I also want to give a big ditto to Dr. Betty's post.
