Oh,gee, a type-o...mea culpa...I guess that is far better, for my dogs, then being in the dark ages with dog training.
Preparing your dog for the helper dvds....are for the handler to work their OWN dog. The mistakes that a handler makes with their own dog in bite foundation training is far more forgivable by the dog then ones that an inexperienced decoy can make & the issues that it can cause. Especially in a pup or young dog.
But then being the expert trainer that you are....you know that right?
I like happy endings good for you nick for seeing your weaknesses pulling it together and changing what needs to be changed and working accordingly Yup i want updates
Anne yo answer your question,Of course,I'm a perfectionist when it comes to helper work .I learned working guard dogs before the trainer let me work his SCH dogs . the helper in question is very good and safe, excellent with puppies and suit work as you know it is difficult to get a good helper i'm fortunate to have 3 Anne your correct about Koehler being in the dark ages. but we are working on it. food is working great but my hands are too arthritic to play tug . I'm dropping things & having trouble holding the leash (no jerking the dogs lol ) Stay young don't get old. I will be lucky to get the pup trained she is d I guess we will have to disagree on some methods you have to admit my typing is better Good luck with your dogs
Anne to answer your question,Of course, I expect a lot from a helper. I learned working guard dogs before the trainer let me work his SCH dogs . the helper in question is very good and safe, excellent with puppies and suit work as you know it is difficult to get a good helper i'm fortunate to have 3 Anne your correct about Koehler being in the dark ages. but we are working on it. food is working great but my hands, back, knee's are too arthritic to play tug. i've been dropping things and having trouble holding on to the leash.( helper work to many years and to dumb to quit) Stay young& don't get old. I will be lucky to get the pup trained she is spoiled rotten I guess we will have to disagree on some methods you have to admit my typing is better only about 15 min. Good luck with your dogs
Mine is worse. Arthritic hands also....ergo..the type-Os. The more you move the better you will be.
It's a whole lot easier on your body to do marker training & enlist your dog's co-operation in training then it is to have to physically correct for non-complience. I rarely have to physically correct my dogs. Much easier on my body.
We WILL have to disagree: I would NOT work a pup, young or green dog on an inexperienced decoy. Can cause too many problems for later work. But that's just me.
It takes 10x longer to fix something then to teach it correctly in the beginning. And some errors can ruin a dog.
