There's nothing like adopting a thrown-away senior (or one whose owner has died or whatever led to a senior becoming homeless just when s/he needs most to have a warm and comfortable home and good food) and giving him or her the kind of end-of-life s/he should have.
It may be the hardest adopting of all, and for sure it leads to the most frequent losses, but the rewards are huge.

Double Ditto. I used to struggle with the heartache of the frosty's time with me, but have adjusted my mindset that it isn't about the time; it is about the quality of that time. Frosty's are the one thing that forces me to stay in the moment and appreciate what I have. Not belitting the pain of loss at all, it is awful but after time my recall is about our special experiences. This sounds kind of goofy, I just can't put the words together right, but when looking at a younger dog I see, what are we going to do now? When looking at a frosty face I see, love--emotion type expressions. Ok I give up trying to express, everyone just needs a frosty at all times.
