I want a nice, compact, short haired, straight backed, tail upcurled, confident, ignoring street dogs, low to medium drive, german shepherd. Oh, plus I would want it to not like too many people.
As a second I would settle for a dutch shepherd as it has all the physical traits that I look for in a GSD (which the GSDs do not have these days), as long as the DS will have medium play/food drive and a good solid defense drive.
In short I want a medium sized dog that will be calm and dull , but will bite with seriousness and not play.

I am extremely happy with my Mal, so I'd like another one (or a Dutchie) next. But instead of a little female I'd like a larger male.
Someday when I have the space for a useless dog it will be an Afghan hound. And I really like Kelpies as well.

Okay, this is fun! Having had Dobermans for the last 25 years or so, I can't imagine not always having at least one in my house. But if it was possible, I'd have a house full of dogs, and they would be a variety of breeds.
I'd love a Belgian Malinois, ditto a GSD (steering far away from American show lines).
I also know a few nice Rhodesian Ridgebacks and could definitely see myself owning one of those.
Lisa, I'm also intrigued by the Beauceron, though I've never actually met one.
At a seminar I went to earlier this year, I saw an extraordinary Entlebucher Mountain Dog, and did a little research on the breed. I like them!
But I will confess that, the older I get, the more I'm thinking there might be a Golden Retriever or Flat-Coated Retriever in my future!
It's fun to fantasize, but I'm probably lucky I live in such a small house; otherwise, I'd be dog-poor!

I would love to have a Nova Soctia Duck Toller. I had a JRT in middle school/high school wouldn't mind another JRT or Fox Terrier. Corgi either pembroke or cardigan. I could do another Lab, but not going with chocolate. I also wouldn't mind a Terv. I love my Mal but IMO Tervs are less sharp.

When I say I want a nice little GSD, this is what I mean.
I don't see GSDs like this anymore. This dog is my ideal dog physical build wise. If I get a dog that looks like this with great confidence, great nerves , medium drive and a good defense instinct, I will sell my kidney to buy one

My next dog will be a Mal. If I could, I'd have a small pack, my dane girl, Mal boy, and a Belgian Mastiff boy. *sigh* Maybe some day.

You nearly described my Kira...except she wouldn't ignore street dogs.
As for what dog I would have, right now, I actually don't want anymore! Vigo was the dog I wanted for myself, after I moved out of my parents and had to leave Grace & Kira behind.
I hope to always have GSDs...as I get older, maybe I will just adopt seniors so I don't have to deal with crazy puppy antics.

I'm sure my next dog will be another Malinois, although I don't expect to have a "next dog" for a few years. Or maybe a "long haired Malinois" ie Terv pup from a Mali litter. However, if I was going to go outside of the breed, what I'd REALLY like to have is another Dobermann. With the health, working ability and longevity of my Malinois. I'm a fan of Bart Bellon's current Malinois Thor, maybe I'll just get one like that LOL
