All states have adopted the three year standard? What does this mean? I'm pretty sure Louisiana still insists that animals be vaccinated for rabies annually.
Louisiana: "Subsequent booster vaccines shall be administered one year after administration of a vaccine that confers one year of immunity and three years after the administration of a vaccine that confers three years of immunity."
“All states (but not all towns) now accept the 3-year rabies vaccination protocol. There have been many developments in state rabies laws across the country in which The Rabies Challenge Fund has had a leading role -- the most recent being Alabama passing a 3 year law this week with medical exemption clause and Rhode Island's Rabies Control Board passing a 3 year protocol with medical exemption. It is official, now all states have adopted the 3 year national standard.”

In the last few years, many veterinarians have moved away from annual dog vaccinations, recommending that shots for distemper and parvo be given every three years. The frequency of rabies vaccinations, however, is determined by each state's laws. Fortunately, all states have adopted the three-year rabies protocol.
