This was in one of the links but is really easy to get. Make sure your vet will take it http://www.carecredit.com/vetmed/ . Call your local humane societies and rescue groups. I am a member of a Non- profit group in my area. All we do is raise money and have it on hand to help people in situations like this. You may have a group in your area like that too. I worked at a vet that did not offer "payment plans" we did however illegally have people post date checks for all their payments and cash them on the agreed dates It would not hurt to ask your vet if they would do that.
Thanks for all the reply's back. With the help of a friend i was able to take Buddy to the vet on 2-16-12. an x-ray was done and no sign of blockage but saw a pocket of gas, he put Buddy on Metronidazole, 1000 units 2 times per day. What the vet did find was a lump on Buddy's Lympnode, the vet withdrew fluid and sent to lab. My vet called with the results Saturday and he confirmed my worst fear. Buddy has Lymphoma, I can't afford nor would I want to put Buddy on Chemo, It will only make him suffer and I can't do that to my best friend. Decided to put him on prednizone - 40 mg gram 2 times per day. It won't stop the cancer but will help him feel a little better for awhile. From what the vet said and what I have read on line, I will be very lucky if he can make it 2 months.
He is feeling better, still not eating a lot but is drinking. I just can't believe this, he just turned 6 on the 14th if this month. In the mean time, I keep checking his stool and lots ot the denture has passed.
I'm so very sorry to hear this sad news, an awful and cruel thing to happen to such a youngster, I wish you strength and Buddy a peaceful and pain free time for you to try and come to terms with this devastating turn of events.
Thanks to all of you for your kind words, its very hard to come to terms that I'm going to lose him. In the mean time i just want him to be pain free and feeling better. Today he is much more alert and think the medication has releived the gas pain. I have never let any of my dogs suffer just to keep them around and I will not do that to Buddy. I would rather take the pain of his loss, then have him suffer.
Such heartbreaking news for you, Peggy. If you dare to hope, however, and if your Buddy has a fighting spirit, I would highly recommend an internet search for "natural dog health lymphoma". You may not find a cure, but you might just find some information that will give you a little more time with your pup...
