Josh Lewis has the best explaination that I have ever heard... by far. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> Maybe if you guys are lucky he will share it. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
do you folks teach "learned irrelevance" of the collar - by keeping it on in dummy mode (no batteries) and being obvious by picking up the remote and even pointing it in the dogs direction frequently until the collar and remote become meaningless (a few weeks) to the dog before you actually start to use the collar with stim - if not what kind of results are you getting regarding a collar wise dog and if you do dummy the collar what results are you having re collar wise dogs. (whew if that isnt the worlds longest run on sentence)
i am also curious at what level of development/training you introduce a potential sport or ppd to an e-collar.
I put the Ecollar on the dog and go training. I leave it on for the rest of the day. After that I put it on in the morning and take it off in the evening at bedtime. I don’t do the phantom pointing of the transmitter unit that you refer to but then I don’t point the transmitter at the dog during training.
I don’t wait for any time at all to put the Ecollar on either a sport dog or a Personal Protection dog.
Lou Castle has been kicked off this board. He is an OLD SCHOOL DOG TRAINER with little to offer.
I am condsidering the collar, why can't we just fool the dog, naturally by switching the e-collar with the regular collar how exactly can they tell the differance just by touch?, it isn't like they know what it looks like. also one has to get the dog to wear the collar for a few days off and on without using the shock. anyway a properly trained dog is going to obey the command quickly without taking the time to stop and think "oh yeah, which collar am i wearing right now anyway, humm.... "
someone please tell me where i can read tri-tronics ed's articles on this web, i have been looking and i can't find anything. i would like all of the infor i can get on the e-collar thanks
There is a wealth of information right here in the older posts of this thread. I don't believe that Ed has articles that deal specifically with the Tri-tronics brand.
