My Dear Darling Boy Kaiser Passed away 24th of April 2012. He was 2 years and a few days old.
In his short stay with me, he showed me how it feels to be totally forgiven. He made me realize my shortcomings without making me feel small or ashamed about them. He made me realize how much it hurts to be with out him.He made me realize a soft nudge on my hand can mean more than a million words. He made me realize how it feels like to receive total loyalty and devotion (till the last breath).
I will never Love any dog more than him. That is because he made me realize how much it hurts when you loose that dog. I did not know that there was a dark side to this beautiful relationship.
I want to thank all of you who helped me and kaiser with our training. And I want to thank Kaiser for teaching me, how to be a kinder, gentler, forgiving and accepting being on this planet.
It's difficult to even write how sorry I am to hear this. What a lucky boy Kaiser was to be loved by such a thoughtful companion such as yourself. I hope that as the greif ebbs, you can let the memories of everything you gave to each other ease your loss. Thoughts are with you, Ram!
Lord Byron inscribed this on a monument for his Newfoundland Dog:
Near this spot are deposited the remains of one who
possessed Beauty without Vanity,
Strength without Insolence,
Courage without Ferocity,
and all the Virtues of Man,
without his Vices.
This Praise, which would be unmeaning
Flattery if inscribed over human
ashes is but a just tribute to the Memory
of Boatswain, a Dog.
They live with us, day in and day out. The stand at our sides through the good and the bad. They love us no matter what. They give us strength and hope when we can't muster them ourselves. They crush our hearts to tiny pieces when they leave us... they are our best friends. Our dogs....
Unfortunatley, they don't live nearly long enough, and those of us that choose to love a dog, know that one day, they will break our hearts. Yet, we still make that choice.
Why do we put ourselves through it? Because the love, the affection, the good times... they outweigh the heartache in the end. One day, the pain eases a teeny little bit, and you can remember all of they happy times you've had together in the time you've shared your space with your dog. The memories of the good times build, and become smiles. The smiles become laughter. The pain isn't forgotten, but it becomes more endurable with the passage of time....
I believe in the Rainbow Bridge. I believe that one day, I will see my beloved dogs again. Until then, they wait patiently for me at the Bridge, and I give the tiny pieces of my torn heart to other dogs....
I am sorry for your loss, Ram, but you will see Kaiser again. He is just hanging out at the Bridge waiting for you. Until that day, you have the memories of the time you had together.
