My maiden name gives people fits, that's why I didn't go back to it after the divorce even though I would rather get past that whole ugly ordeal and forget it ever happened. lol
Maiden name is Werres. Go ahead - try it.
(little hint: It's German, but Americanized. No, I am not Juarez, Where's, or Wirs)
My last name is Beaumont, like BOW-mont, and many people insist that we should be pronounce our names like BEW-mont. You can compare it to Beauceron, you don't say BEW-sir-on, You say BOW-sir-on. And then you have Beaumont, Texas.
Nice guess, Duane. My dad's family actually came from an area around the Werre River in Germany. Grandpa Americanized it to rhyme with Paris (sort of Paris, but with the 'w' sound to make it easier) when he imigrated to the States and earned his citizenship.
Sure beats my mother's maiden name of Laskowski, though. lol (which my other grandad shortened to Laski for ease when he came here from Poland.)

Shoot, Laskowski is easy for a half-Polish girl like myself. My maiden name is Traskos, which was spelled Trzaskos in Poland. The silent Z was dropped when my great-grandparents came to this country.
Christi, I'm glad you chimed in. I've been guilty of thinking it was something like "Koofle." Sorry.
Ariane, I guessed right on both your first and last names!
Will, is the accent in your last name on the first or second syllable? RAM-beau or Ram-BEAU?

It's fin-lay. With an ay. It's Irish. It just so happens that when Irishmen say Finlay it sounds like Fin-lee. Finley is also pronounced fin-lay. I'm not sure what the original spelling was. My great grandpa came from Ireland through Ellis Island.
