My brother got his Presa when it was 3 yrs old. Nice dog, good temperament but nobody had any luck doing his nails. That included the vet and groomers. He got down right snarly when you lifted a foot.
With marker training my brother was trimming the dog's nails in a week or two with the dog laying on his side.
Touch the foot, get no reaction, mark and reward. Build off of that!
Zoey has what Betty calls a nubbin and I believe it's from the vet who had more experience at being a butcher than a vet surgeon.
I could have done a cleaner job with a hack saw, baling twine and a hangover, this guy was a hack I mean leather face from Texas chin saw massacre could have done better work.
