The leash or tether is an excellent tool to instill this at this stage, not making a move without you. He's just a baby and will get into anything and everything if YOU let him.
As Kory points out, tethering means "attached to YOU."
I'm a huge fan and I wish I had learned about it decades ago.
Management becomes second nature when the puppy is attached to you. Many of the dangerous or just destructive behaviors that fade with a little maturity are avoided and minimized. Body language around potty becomes crystal clear, bonding is enhanced, and a mountain of temptation to correct a puppy just for being a puppy is avoided.

... if you decide to pursue this avenue of training ( reward based training ) these provide the information you will need .
And of course, marker training is much more than positive-reward-based training.
It's training that tells the pup or dog exactly, precisely what he was doing to earn the reward.
The "marker" (which you will learn to connect with the yummy reward in the dog's mind) is the tool that "marks" the exacts moment when the coming reward was earned.
It's like tweezers compared to a sledge hammer, in precision.
Example: By the time you have fumbled out and handed a food reward to a dog you are training, the behavior the dog performed that earned it has gone by. It's not possible to "mark" it precisely without a method for associating an instant in time with the reward that comes a few seconds later.
Marker training does exactly that.
And it doesn't preclude corrections, if they are ever needed down the road. There's often confusion between marker training and "purely positive." They are not synonymous.
Many all-positive trainers are also marker trainers. But you can be either one without being the other.
We have a member here who took his GSD to SchH 3 with markers and with no corrections!

"of course , the dog has to like his crate , and that is a whole training regime in itself . henry loves his crate , and will run right up to it to get in . that has been learned but it sure makes your , and his , life a lot better . .... we have made a food chasing game out of coming out and going in , and every time he comes out ( to go some where ) food goes in so he comes to expect that there will something nice waiting for him every time ."
The one laying on the floor is priceless. You can just see the mischief in those eyes. "Yeah, I'm lying here all cute with a full mouth... THIS second..."
