I agree with you 110% CJ. I feed raw chicken mostly. I think the veterinary community is lagging behind.
Just like we lagged behind with cruelty to farm animals. It took 35 years, and frankly I think women in food animal practice, before dehorning with anaesthesia became an accepted practice.
I have had a few discussions with vets over my feeding raw. They have basically given up on me. One time I tried to reach them at the human level. I told them you can eat popcorn every night and get full, but there isn't enough nutrition for you to be healthy. It would take a while for it to show up, but you would soon have health problems. I also tried that reasoning with tv dinners. I asked why not just eat fresh food instead of food made to taste like it is fresh and natural.
I think many of the vets realize that most people do not really make sure their pets eat a healthy diet. So, if they said raw was fine, they fear many would just throw some meat in a bowl and toss it out the door and leave it at that.
But anyway, what goes for people, goes for pets, what we eat affects our health. I wonder if all the food additives, the food that tastes like the fresh foods because of those flavorings, don't cause more cancer in humans? I also wonder if our dogs are eating food that is filled with preservatives, and flavorings, that is why cancer is on the rise in our pets as well. I believe it is. But it is just my opinion.
