We're getting the beginning of super wind, it's been raining all day. Driveway is holding though, and the house is at the top of a hill so no flood concerns with the actual house. LOTS of downed trees. We still have power that's more to do with the fact we're a hop away from the power station and out lines are underground for about 90% of that. We're having brown outs. The bulk of the storm won't hit Western MA until tommorrow but I think we're prepared, brought firewood in today to make sure it's dry if we need it. Our worry is the driveway washing away and wind damage. Luckily for the most part the trees are far enough from the house not to be a problem. A few near the garage however are causing some concern but even if they fall they'll just take paint, they haven't dropped their leaves yet so they're giant sails, and the younger ones may not have the roots yet to hold on.
Gambit looks like I'm asking him walk over a bed of lava every time I make him go outside to pee though >_>

To my surprise Sandy came and went with very little impact to my area. Lots of wind and little rain. The hardest part was taking the dogs out and making sure they didn't get hit with anything flying through the air.
Thanks again for all the well wishes!

Jamie and Brian, I'm so glad you were both able to check in and let us know you're okay.
Anxiously hoping to hear from Anne and Marj, and any other members in the area. Of course we realize you guys have much, much more important things to do right now! Please continue to be safe.
What an incredibly huge storm this is. I live in Michigan and the wind has been howling like crazy since yesterday. We have some power outages in our area. Gale warnings on the Great Lakes. I know this is nothing compared to what the folks on the East Coast are experiencing. I only mention it because I'm just amazed at the reach of this storm.

I also hope Anne and Marj are well. Their areas got hit hard. Flooding is a terrible ordeal. There isn't much you can do once the water comes in.

Strong winds & rain this way, many downed trees, but we were spared any damage to the house, cars, barns, pool, or fencing.
A large tree went down in front of the chicken/goat fence, we thought the fencing was crushed, missed it by just a few inches.
The more extreme the weather, the better Roger likes it. He’s like a big pumped puppy while we were out there, great fun to chase the flying objects.
The small dogs would have been blown into the next county.
I hope everyone is safe and as fortunate. Fifteen minutes north of us was heavily flooded.

Thanks for the update, Tammy, Jamie and Brian.
It's good to know you are all safe and managed to escape the very worst destruction! You all have been on my mind. Take care!!

Please keep us posted. The TV is just terrifying, with waist-deep water, wind picking up people and tossing them around (in NYC!), a hospital evac in NYC, flooded North Jersey towns with boat rescues, hundreds of thousands with no power, video of exploding transformers .....
One of my kids is going to go nuts, I fear. No power, no school, three boys age ten and under at home with her and her husband (no work either). She is surrounded by flooded towns, but Hoboken seems to be OK (except for power).
One of my sisters lives in one of the coastal Massachusetts towns that rode out the "Perfect Storm," now riding out yet another view of waves crashing over the sea wall.
All in all, yikes. It's one of those glued-to-the-video-reports things.

Thanks for thinking about us. We are safe. No trees on the house trucks, lots of branches & debre. Lights flickered all night long but for once I didn't loose power or flood. We were on the side of the storm that had way higher winds then rain. My fence took the BIG hit. Almost half of it is down. Wind just snapped the post off at ground level.
It was pretty scarey taking the dogs out yesterday evening. I have all woods behind my home & close to 80 mph winds were realy blowing everything around. Took them out on my tracking line last night so they had stay right by me. They wanted to go check out the down fence panels. Silly dogs!
The overall damage here is devestating. The flooding is unreal. Not only homes but downtown areas streets & stores were flooded from the tidal surge coming up river inlets etc.
The high tides with the moon tide with the storm surge was the likes of which hasn't been seen here since 1039! Even Irene last year was not as bad on the coastline as this storm.
