Connie, my FIL just decided this Thanksgiving that he was in the mood for a Jello salad, so I was "voluntold" to make one I love the old church cookbooks from the 1930's through the Sixties- the recipes are right up my alley and I love anything "vintage" BTW, those Jello molds are awesome! If I made Jello on a semi-regular basis, I'd have to get some but honestly, I can count the number of times I've made Jello in my adult lifetime and it isn't many! Since I was being adventurous and making Jello, I decided to try some interesting recipes that call for celery, pears and walnuts with mayo and whipped cream in Lime and Sour Cream with Strawberry.
It's my first time with Sour Cream and raisin Pie too- my Grandma's favorite. Since my parents and sister were headed to see her, I baked one to send and one to keep. Pretty darn tastey if I do say so myself! Spicey clove and rich raisin-y custard (yep, I cheated and had a piece!)
Happy Thanksgiving Everyone !! After being without power for 10 days, we are thankful for a myriad of things, not the least of which is we got through Sandy with a minimum of damage: lots of spoiled food and a crushed leader on the roof.
