Everything my dogs eat comes from a small grocery store in "the bad part of town."
Stores that cater to ethnic minorities always have a better selection of cheaper cuts and offal.
They are happy to have my business. And I'm happy to have a place that deals in cheap oddball cuts of meat.
Restaurant supply businesses may also be able to help. Chicken backs are sold to restaurants to make stock.
But don't overlook the value of a mom-and-pop grocery in an Asian or African American neighborhood. Those cultures are adept at snout-to-tail butchering, and they have and sell it all.

Christy, natural pet stores in your area may have the 5# bags of chicken backs(Primal), you can buy enough until you locate another source.
I can find them at most butcher shops in my area, but the "Bad" part of town isn't always so bad $$ wise for chicken backs.
I feed my small senior dog THK with add ins, my fosters, and SD in training. It's easy for those who adopt them to continue feeding. I like what Connie suggested for THK & chicken backs.

Thanks for all of your help.
I finally was able to locate some chicken backs. Man....they are really gross! I weighed out a pound ration for each day and sealed in a zip-lock baggie in the freezer. Fourteen pounds worth. Then it occurred to me-what if she won't eat them? (she's never had them before) So, I gave her a sample piece and she looked at me like I was crazy. I will try later at supper time, maybe surrounded by THK they may seem more appealing to her. (I cut the pieces up rather small for tonight)
Any advice?

I've had adopted dogs who were quite suspicious at first of the texture of raw meat.
You could take a piece of the meat with no bone (don't give cooked bone) and stick it into a skillet for long enough to color one side.
I can pretty much promise that warm lightly-cooked chicken is going to be hugely popular, especially if she's hungry. (Probably even if she's not.)
Then cook it less, and so on.
Then take half of a back (or whatever you are giving : half or a third or whatever) and very lightly and quickly put that in the skillet (after skinning it) on the meat side only, not long enough to even heat the bones
I actually doubt that you will have to do more than a couple of these steps.
In fact, you're right that the THK surrounding it and a hungry dog may be sufficient.
PS
I agree that they're gross.
But not to any dog I've ever had ..... including the ones with a lifelong kibble history and a shocked reaction to the first one. LOL

PS
The most suspicious of all is now an elderly boy who wears a dreamy caviar (or chocolate) look when he munch-munch-munches his chicken backs.
He came with dental issues, too, and has had about half of his teeth extracted. But he has enough teeth for chicken backs! LOL

LOL, "dreamy caviar look" Connie, you crack me up!
Well, she gobbled them up. First, she ate all the Force-licked it off the backs. Then she pushed them around the bowl with her nose, and gnawed them down. It was funny to watch, I am such a nerd I recorded it. Odd, the chunk I threw in the back yard, she would have nothing to do with.
Now I guess we just wait and keep an eye (not literally) on her poop. Did you mention something about "bony" poop?

It's not nerdy to record it! (Well, no nerdier than anyone else here. )
It's cool to watch a dog learn (or remember) primal dog stuff.
I think you will see good poops. What you are on the alert for is dry poops, or chalky powdery poops, or poops that are balls instead of logs. If you see one of those, post back and we'll adjust. (Poops are excellent gauges of the correct bone amount in the food.)
I would want to see the poop before giving the next RMB, because of her poop history. You should (and probably will) see a nice log, and no straining to produce it.

Congratulations, for researching, for waiting until you had good log poops from proper-size meals before switching, for tracking down the backs and bagging them up, and basically for doing such lifelong good things for your dog!

Oh boy, what a happy, frisky, wild puppy we have this morning! She produced perfect tootsie rolls with no straining. I did mix a little Perfect Form into her THK when she ate the backs. I only gave her the backs for dinner (mixed with Force), before bed just Force. I will continue to monitor her poop.
Wouldn't touch them at breakfast. Tried to flash fry them....still wouldn't touch them. Will give it another go at lunch, after she has had a good workout.
Thanks again for your help-I would have never been brave enough to take this on without you all! (Molly thanks you, too)

Tootsie Rolls sound small.
Literally the size of Tootsie Rolls?
Were they that small before too? (Just making sure they didn't get really small overnight.)
