And, Connie, you're only old if you remember and watched the original Mickey Mouse Club! Thanks for that reminder! I suppose that also holds for those of us who remember watching Cisco Kid, Zorro, Lone Ranger, and Leave It To Beaver. What about Captain Kangaroo, Kukla, Fran, And Ollie, Flash Gordon, Lassie, Annie Oakley, Ding Dong School, Roy Rogers, and Sky King. What about Fury? Where I lived, The Lone Ranger was followed on Saturday morning by Fury (besides Fury, the horse, it starred the real-life brother of the actor who played Gunsmoke's Marshall Matt Dillon*). Or at least that's what I hear from old folks. * Peter Graves and James Arness, of course, were brothers.
I remember them all. And don't forget Roy Rogers. I got to ride Trigger and Buttermilk also (and play with Bullet) out at their original ranch.
Anyone here remember Sheriff John, Thunderbolt the Wondercolt, or Beanie and Cecil?

Only Beany and Cecil. Weren't they sea monsters?
I remember they were done by someone who ditched Warner Brothers to go off on his own.
I think I've seen the later cartoon.
But the puppets .... wasn't that before most people had TV sets? (Seriously .... late 40s or very early 50s .... )

Connie, I can only hope you never catch up with me but we both just keep on truckin!
Now, to get really old I recall not having a tv and sitting in front of a radio that was as big as an over stuffed chair. The Lone Ranger, Inner Sanctum, The Green Hornet, Sgt Preston of the Yukon and a few others.
Our first TV was in the early 50s. My first TV memories were of my dear sweet old granpa throwing stuff at the TV during the Groucho Marks "You Bet You Life" show, while cussing up a storm. "If that smart mouthed, ^hole, SOB talked to me like that I kick his A$$ into next week". "Say the magic woid and the duck will come down". The whole show was a setup.
For those too young, Groucho Marks, aside from Marks Brothers movies, was TVs early version of Don Rickles. Nothing more then another smart mouthed, ^hole, SOB!

Do you have imaginary friends to watch these imaginary TV shows with?
JK, of course. Yes, I suspect they are Canadian.

I Googled the Green Forest show and now I'm envious. I wish I could have seen it!

BLOG QUOTE: "As you can tell by my email subject, my most favorite was probably Fables of the Green Forest. I too have come across the startling unavailability of this program!"
I know Thornton Burgess books; they are dear to me. I've read Billy Mink, Paddy the Beaver, and Reddy Fox. More, too, but I don't remember the other titles. Even when I was little, those books were very old. (And wonderful. Billy Mink was a book I read and re-read.)

I loved Fables of the green Forest.
There was Chatterer the squirrel
Sammy the blue Jay
Reddy Fox
Bobby the Racoon
and my favourite Buster the Bear
Jeremy the bear was based on an English childrens book.
He was a cute little circus bear that could talk.
and Barbapapa was a large pink morping blob that looked kind of like Grimace (McDonalds). He married Barbamama and had Barbababies...heehee....whenever he would morph into a different shape he would say Clickity Click...Barba Trick!!
good Canadian fun i tell ya!

Been wantin' to say this, but didn't want to break up the nostalgia party... (man, you guys are old. I would never admit that I remember all that stuff!).
For those who may be relatively inexperienced with todays versions of social networking; The term "Paragraphing" has been expanded to include double-spacing between paragraphs.
