Tanner is getting about 15 minutes a day of training in 2-5 minute marker training sessions. Such a mellow boy. That's really all the work I can get out of him.
Bailey gets about 2-3 hours of work, exercise, and play every day, with 1 or 2 days off a week just to be a dog. That includes 2 walks a day of at least 50 minutes each, longer hikes on weekends and my days off. We also do one or two 10 minute sessions a day of marker training and obedience, working in something new as often as possible. We also have one or two sessions of intense play or physical activity each day lasting from 10 minutes to half an hour like fetch and tug work or agility. Don't know about Bailey but I get pretty tired by nightime.
I also have a training journal. I keep a record of what I did and how it is going and what needs work. I also keep track of my own training, my heeling position, by body movements when training, and practicing my cues, and lately especially reviewing of the rally sign cards.
I have one sheet for a week, with a grid on it with each dogs name on it.
We train every day, except thursday, and sunday. Monday bindi goes to rally training, tues Terra goes to dog school for proofing. Saturday is game day and outdoor fun. SUnday a day of rest.
We work for about 5-7 minutes each. ANd I also work behaviors into their daily routine. I don't know about you guys, but I am looking for warmer weather and I know my training will pick up.
Thanks for the input. sharon
