I think these "aversives" is also in the eyes of the dog. I've had many terriers that wouldn't bat an eye when I was going off on a tantrum in my early training days. One of my GSDs now can be crushed by a harsh word. No way could I get a positive response out of him with ANY sort of negativism from me.
Some dogs are super sensitive to body language. Especially ones that really want to please and are trying *too* hard to figure out what you want. It's not the movement but the idea of NOT pleasing you that is aversive to them.
