Chance was the first, and only, dog that I've trained for a Sch title. He was extremely into protection and I worried about how to get him to listen in teaching the multiple blind search. This is the only time I've used electric on him.
The helper stood between blinds 1 and 2. Chance knew where he was. He was sent to blind 1 and had to recall to me, then sent for a bite. Then when that was steady with no corrections and only one command, we added the second blind. It took time, but we slowly added blinds. A mistake took him back to blind 1 and starting all over. He does a super fast and obedient search. He knew where the helper was and had to do the search to get the reward. I had tried the changing of blinds that was the catch blind, having helpers in multiple blinds ect. This really worked with him. Ch

Dog training made easy, ”(That is the way she was tought.I bought this dog SchHI and "ready" for II and III.)”, RE-TRAINING is a bitch. They are always “ ready” when being sold.
Why run all the blinds in training, just run four or five. If she comes smokin’ around the blind have the helper break out and run in the opposite direction. Motivate her to slow down and check the blind or think the rabbit might escape. Maybe too much biting at/in the blind, block her with a long line and let the helper escape. Start only allowing her to bite the fleeing helper not the standing in the blind helper. Teach her to search blinds not run blinds. Teach her the barking will cause you to come and hold her so the helper will run away and then she might get a bite. Back-up the training sequences. Too much biting/reinforcement in the blind can be counter-productive. The helper walking down the center of the field is another technique. Several good ideas listed here by others. Balance training, it’s up to us. It will take more than four days of re-training to solve the problem. Be patient.
See ya tomorrow…………

Lots of good stuff here, thanks guys. I think I'll cross post what SchH3 said if she doesn't get with it and post it here for everybody.
Won't see me this weekend Al, I've got strep throat. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" />

Ok, this is all I wrote to VC: a technique for getting a ball or tug-crazy dog to slow and actually look into each blind is to suspend a clothespin from the apex of the blind where the legs come together. Tease the dog with the ball, clip the string into the clothespin and encourage the dog to jump up and grab it. Once they are comfortable doing that, you can send the dog to the blind to get his ball and play two balls with him when he brings it back. Then you set up all the blinds and randomize which blind has the ball in it (all of this prelim work is done without a helper). Hanging the ball/tug up high makes the dog slow and actually look in the blind for a second, which looks quite impressive.
You can continue to incorporate the ball retrieve with your blind search after adding the helper by teaching the dog to find and retrieve the ball in order to earn the right to go to blind six and engage the helper. The quicker he finds and returns the ball to you, the quicker he gets to be sent directly to blind six. So if he finds it in blind two and brings it to you and comes front, you can send him directly to six as a reward. The location is always random, and sometimes he won't find it til blind five or not at all, but by completing the search he gets to go on to blind six.

wow, we must be doing something right <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
the way we start our younger dogs is exactly as explained above. Using kongs and anything that can be used as a blind (if they're not available).
And noone told us this, we thought it up on our own...we must be smart or something <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

If you started tracking with corners on day one AND you did the ball trick, then I might consider you smart.
You're just lucky. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

And now at 15mos, she's doing almost a FH1 level track. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
