I'm so sorry Kristin.
Daisy sounds a bit like my Kingster did towards the end.
I got down on the floor with him and asked him if it was time. Told him that if he wanted to continue to fight, I would fight every step of the way with him, but if he was ready for the next journey I would ease him into in and be with him, again, every step of the way.
Up to this time he had been our comeback kid.
It may sound silly, but I swear when I looked into his eyes he told me he was ready.
I know the incredible pain you are feeling now, and the second guessing. I do know from personal experience I have regretted with all my heart holding on and doing it to late, but I have never looked back and said I did it to early.
Mr. Scott has said it well. Through tears we often are called on to make impossible decisions. In tears we remember. I wish you and Daisy peace. I wish for you both a rainbow.

Me too, Betty. I will never second-guess myself on that, because I know the personal misery I have felt for waiting longer than I should have.
I feel for you Kristin - most of us have been in your shoes, and I'm not ashamed to say that I've wept over every dog that I've lost throughout the years.
I lost my heart dog in February, super suddenly to bloat, and I swear it was the hardest decision I've ever made in my life. There is nothing more heartbreaking, but I am thankful I had the strength to let her go...no matter the pain it caused me, for it was the best thing for her.
I have a 16 year old Cairn Terrier...also named Daisy. I'm pondering her life as I type and have been for awhile. I'm seeing her change and lose her "life is awesome, I love food, I'm not very smart, but I'm HAPPY" that she's always had.
Sending you tons of strength, love and peace as you make decisions for your Daisy.
Thank you all for your support. It meant a lot to me. We euthanized her on Sunday. She passed very peacefully. I'll get around to posting a memoir when I feel up to it.
