Bo is a 1 year old pit bull mix and will learn a focused heel. Our goal is to do a 20 foot straight line with full focus. I've been using compulsion with a prong to force him to not yank my arm out of socket. For learning the focused heel we will do it with food, a marker, and a flat collar and leash.
I'll post video of his current behavior tomorrow afternoon.

Here's the place to announce your behavior/command and how you plan to teach it using markers (and of course we all know that the exact training m.o. is sometimes modified).
It's OK if you didn't announce in the thread about starting the contest .... this is the place!
Here's a brief recap of the rules: http://leerburg.com/webboard/thread.php?topic_id=33538#380879
(If it's a problem you plan to correct, it would be nice if you could post a little clip here of the unwanted behavior (if you can). You could describe it, though.)
You might want to state if you are new to marker training.
After everyone is signed up, BTW (by Thursday midnight, don't forget!), asking for help or suggestions if you hit a bump is fine!
Then we'll have a new place to post the results mid-August. The contest will end Sunday, August 18, at midnight.

I have an 8.5 month old clown with a few unwanted behaviors. He turns faucets on in the bathroom to get a drink. I am not sure if I should nix the behavior, or train him to shut the damn
water off when he's done?
I am thinking...
Well, the second one would be very cool indeed!

So much to teach! I'd like to teach an automatic recall- both to heel and between the legs, with position changes and forward with attention- for the malinois. But it would also be fun and more visually exciting to teach her "parkour" moves downtown which we've already started working on...
She learned the weave the first time I tried that with her, so I'll incorporate that into parkour- I know just the bike rack I want to work with.
Now to find a videographer.

I am so excited by this contest. I will post what I am going to teach my brilliant beautiful baby (not quite 5 months old) as soon as I get back from the vets.
I want to try to get him to allow me to brush his teeth without him eating the toothbrush but I need to check first as he has a rash that might mean I need to teach him something else. The toothpaste might sting so I will ask the vet first.
If that's a no then I will be training him to allow me to put on a basket muzzle without it bothering him. I am waiting for the muzzle to arrive (July 30th).
I am new to marker training - 3 months of experience only so it will be a learning process for sure.
I am equally excited about seeing others train their dogs - you all have such excellent ideas.

(I think my other post got eaten)
Goal: Two dog trick with Ryuk and Gamble. I'm going to freeshape a bit first to see what they come up with as they will naturally collaborate to solve problems. Then I'll build or modify the behaviors from there individually. Then bring them back together and see if they can both perform. I"m thinking two different new markers so that I can ask for focus from both and mark them with less confusion at least in the freeshaping phase.

This is Bo's current behavior.
He's all over the place and unable to calm down. Any time I attempt to engage him at all he starts biting my hands and body slamming me, wrapping himself up in the leash, and bucking like a bronco. I aim to correct this by teaching him a focused heel. I don't expect him to heel perfectly every single time we go for a walk, but my hope is that by teaching him how to do it, it'll help connect the dots in his brain to calm the hell down.

Training goal - to get Kenzi to target my feet with her feet and walk in tandem with me (her feet on my feet)
Targeting with front feet is entirely new to her as is targeting two objects at once (both my feet)
I'll probably start by teaching her to target a shoe with one foot, then add in a second shoe for her other foot to target. When that is solid, put the shoes on my feet and continue from there.

We've just recently started a carting class but I didn't think ahead and remember that Sasha gets panicky when things have to go over her head. Our submission for the contest is to try and get her to be more relaxed while I'm putting the harness on and voluntarily put her head into the harness.
No video yet but possibly later on tonight. Right now when I pull the harness out, she barks at it. (Her response to something scary is to bark) A huge handful of Rollover and I can get the harness on her but she scrunches herself down on the ground and squeezes her eyes closed tight while inhaling the Rollover. Once the harness is on, she's fine.
If this turns out to be a total bust, we'll work on conditioning her to a muzzle.
