I totally agree, I was on their website earlier and it looks good (pack of paws), but I did find there policies and if they decide they can't work with you or the dog there are no refunds, I mean if I went to the first class and five minutes in they say no we can't work with you, I'm out any money. I guess I can see the point so they don't get people who come for one or two classes, learn the basics, then cancel and get refunds... but to me as a consumer, no refunds makes me think the goods are flawed.
I'm definitely going to try to audit a class or two, that's also a great way to ensure my philosophy with my dog, is agreeable with their philosophy on dog training.
Interestingly, I saw on their site that they use a method called TAgteach, I'd never heard of it so I looked it up, it seems to be clicker training for people. Hope I'm not boring you all with this topic but its a big decision for us and you've given me a lot of food for thought.
My animals are not "like" family, they ARE family.

More mentions of their various certifications than actual training philosophy.
All dogs are required to be on a flat collar, head halter, or front attach harness. They go on to say "no aversive equipment". As many dogs find a head halter to be quite an aversive I'd say to tread carefully and find out if these people are so deep in the "all positive" kool-aid that they will put it before actual training.
All just my opinion and the impression I got from the web-site of course! And even a trainer whose philosophy you don't agree with can be useful as long as their methods don't cause harm and they aren't vehemently opposed to yours. I just dropped out of a class due to scheduling conflicts. The trainer made several pointed remarks about dogs "only working when you have food" and how leash corrections are "useless and don't teach the dog anything" that were clearly directed at me but didn't interfere with me using treats or leash corrections.
Yes.
And that's kind of what I was worried about, and that last class we had it was same philosophy only flat collars etc. I still haven't talked to the instructor.

Try and find people that have gone through the class. It's also nice if you can see dogs that the trainer has actually trained and possibly competed with.

Ask them for references. (If they have none, I'd RUN.)
Then the references may provide more names. But even the references they provide, which will obviously be vetted for glowing responses, can be asked specific questions.
They charge $20 and won't let you observe a reactive dog class. Seems like they're really expecting people to take a leap of faith considering their refund policy.
