I hope so too. As angry as i was after being bit, I still understand that he is still someones pet. I have mixed feelings about this because on one hand I know he is still a pet that a family loves, and on the other he had the nerve to attack my dog and I. heaven forbid if it were a smaller child... or an elderly person...
Clarify by spelling every little thing out. Some people can be extreme when drawing their own conclusions.
Absolutely, I once was called for 3 dogs that attacked a small child walking a small dog, in panic the girl picked up the small dog (who was severely injured) and the dogs went after her. I am convinced that the only reason she is alive is because a construction worker heard the dogs, ran out and beat them off. The what if's are pretty scary in these incidents.
My animals are not "like" family, they ARE family.
I would have demanded they take the dog to training, or i would THREATEN to file a police report/sue.
That might have scared them into doing the right thing for THE DOG. I would even help them find an appropriate trainer..
I hope the dog wasn't PTS because of a small bite.
Poor innocent dogs with owners that need assistance.
I have been bitten by many many dogs.
The worst i have done was DEMANDED one of the dogs that bit me be rehomed through an appropriate rescue, or i would contact the police and file a report.
I had my older friend who helped run the local dog shelter help them find a great home for the dog.
In this case the dog was highly neglected. A "status symbol" dog. (pit) That lived in the backyard tied to a tree. To do nothing for its entire life, but "look tough" for the teenager who "took care" of it.
In one case i was bit by a poodle. Owner cried and went on about how shes already got the dog in training. And how she had been working with the dog. We went on chatting about training methods, dog training facilities we had both went to and ECT.
The dog had proof of rabies on his tag, was current, and the dog looked in great condition otherwise. (well cared for)
I told her that if she needed a "training buddy/prop" (me)
She could give me a call and ill come over and help out for free. (i lived down the street, gave her my address)
And then i went on my way.
