Glad all turned out well Melissa.
I went thru almost the same thing about 3 weeks ago with my female. It can be scarey for sure. Although my E-vet is less then 10 minutes away....it was a Thursday night at 7pm & my regular vet is open until 8pm on Thurs. eve. I called them as I was leaving the driveway alerting them that I was on my way in with a possible bloat so they were prepared to see us immediately.
As you noted....NOT an evening I would like to repeat.
Melissa, I'm sorry you and Vigo had to experience what you did, but thank you for posting it as a reminder to keep meds, phone numbers and directions handy at all times.
I have the directions to our E-Vet on a Mapquest page stuck to the side of my fridge with the phone number included but I have to looking into finding some Gas-X.
Never thought to keep any on hand as our E-vet is only 15 minutes away but seems like every minute counts and the Gas-X could give you the precious minutes you need to help your dog survive.

Yes, calling ahead is super important. They were expecting us and had him back for xrays within 5 minutes.
In truth, I wasn't able to save Grace's life. It was just too fast and furious. For Vigo, I recognized that something was wrong and had a plan...I do believe that helped him from getting worse.
