Hi Lori,
Yes I've tried apple cider vinegar both in the drinking water and as a topical treatment. My vet said the ph of white vinegar was better topically, so I then tried that. Neither eliminated the yeast, but a 3:1 water-white vinegar mixture rubbed on with a wet towel seemed to be soothing and temporarily relieve itching. I also applied it with a spray bottle, but the wet towel seemed most effective.
You may not remember...I contacted you via email many months ago and you gave me the name of your vet dermatologist. Due to other health issues, we have continued with our vet. My dog is also on a raw diet plus probiotics and digestive enzymes. He has not had a yeast flare up for many months, but seems to be experiencing a mild one now. Like you, we live in So. Ca. so it must be something in the air.
If you decide to give ACV a try (we use it for both the dogs and humans but have no experience with yeast infections)br sure and get a quality vinegar such as Braggs http://www.bragg.com/.
