Eight miles of walking/jogging is a pretty good distance, especially if a dog is not used to it. Just curious. How young is this young dog, and what breed is it?

And how is he this morning?
This morning was very crazy!
I will pm you!
The dog is fine. He doesnt eat or drink much because hes silly.
He also only gets up when he wants to. When hes tired its a no no.
I can tell hes still a bit sore, so i only took him for hiking for about a mile or so today, with my old old girl today.
I skipped the afternoon walk. Going to play some games with the dogs indoors on and off today. As well as kongs.
The reason I asked his age and breed is because of the possibility of causing injury to his musculoskeletal system. I suppose a "young dog" could be anywhere from six months to two years or so. If he's on the younger side of that, I would caution against extremely long walks/jogs.
You are describing exhaustion yesterday and soreness today, and that does cause me concern.
Im going to take a cab for our night walk tonight so we can get down to our little hot dog and burger restaurant! The customers would love to see him again i bet!
Are you watching this dog for someone? Not everyone is as dedicated as you in keeping their dogs exercised and not all dogs need 8 miles of jogging, especially if they haven't done it before. That can be detrimental and dangerous to the dog.
I don't know how long you have been watching other people's dogs but I have been doing it for years and what I find works best is getting a history from the owners of what the daily life is like and keep his/her stay with me as close to that as possible. I do walk all of them even if they have been kept as house dogs but in real limited increments.
And to answer your question: yes a dog can die from exhaustion and dehydration.

Also so people dont worry! The subject question was a joke!
I was never worried he may actually die from exhaustion.
