Even if the dog was leashed, which you made no mention of, it was STUPID experiment, at best. You also said you were open to advice both good and bad. Well, the GOOD people here suggested you get rid of the dog before something serious happens. I may fit your "idoit" remark, but I would never put my kids or grandkids in a position that you did. Have a nice day! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
She was not in any danger and I didn't put her in any position. Funny but the trainer at the Humane Society thought it was a great idea, videoing taping exactly what the problem was, made it alot easier to explain. We showed her how I could open the small refrigerator, my husband could, my older daugter could - but my youngest couldn't. Very helpful, and the dog was leashed and kept several feet away with myself, my husband present. I'm am trying to see if there is way to resolve this problem, to determine if this is prey-drive related or aggression or something else entirely. Obviously, I'm disappointed - but we have no intention of keeping a dog that would pose a threat in any way to my family! I mean this is a dog that is wonderful with all adults, strangers, basically ignores other dogs and is very well behaved - but all of that means nothing if he can't be trusted around children! And, yes, I do appreciate your input.

If memory serves, Denise said she was open to "advice- good or bad." Calling a person's attempt to solve a serious problem a "sick experiment" and "stupid" is not exactly what I would call advice. It sounds a lot more like a schoolyard bully jumping on the opportunity to put down someone who DARES to have a different opinion. There are polite ways to relay one's suggestions, and then there's just kneejerk verbal diarrhea.
There's a saying which I think applies... "it's better to keep one's mouth closed and be thought a fool then to open it and remove all doubt."
