I'm not sure if this is an option, but recently Ayla would not eat (she was in heat and felt terrible). The vet gave her a shot of Cerenia. I think they also have pills. I swear, that poor girl wouldn't eat anything and I tried everything...10 minutes after her injection, she was eating. Might be worth a try. (((hugs)))!
I'll ask about cerenia again. He was on it last week but only for a few days. He's also on 3 antibiotics so that could be contributing to the appetite issues. I've started giving him probiotics.
I'm kinda scared to start the chemo in case it makes him feel worse, but it's now or never so we're doing it. Ack! I hate decisions like this.
B Naturals makes a really nice supplement for digestive health, aptly called Digestion Blend. Might be a good addition for keeping his GI tract healthy through the chemo, etc.
He starts as soon as Walgreens get the drugs in - hopefully this evening. I'm going to try and get the pred this morning and get him going on that asap. He's lost quite a bit of weight in the last week but pred can often give some pretty quick results with lymphoma and it's an appetite stimulant
And, 8 hrs after the first dose of predinsone, his appetite is back. I picked up higher quality dry cat food today since that seems to be what interests him the most right now (won't touch real meat or canned food). Now hoping he doesn't vomit. The other hurdle is a suspected tumor in his intestine hoping the meds shrink it a little or at least keep it from growing further. So much is wrong in his little body really grateful his attitude is still good.
God Mara! Thats a shock! What the heck did this come from? A healthy dog now on chemo..??? its intense. How are you holding up with this out of nowhere?
I agree with the naturals. I mean, all i know is my dog has not has a seizure sense i have switched her food, and added many vitamins and supports.. (thanks to you leerburg users and connie, i feel like i have support, with starting up raw.)
Im sorry this is happening to your kipp like this
