Connie, the great memories I know you've had with Milo will be with you forever. Even his.....ahhhh, LOVE? of Porcupines.
I've had two Borders and have known many more. Not only the best of the half dozen terrier breeds I've had but one of the best "breeds" I've ever had.
My great BT memories will probably draw me back to the Border terrier when my GSDs are gone.
As great as they are with other dogs I suspect Milo, Rags and Polly are together chasing critters wherever they may be now.
Oh yes, Bob, I've remembered more than once his face full of quills and all he wanted was to get back in that hollow log and get revenge.
Everyone who knew Milo loved him (or his craziness).
Milo died a bit over a week ago at almost-nineteen.
A beautiful example of a Border Terrier. (Bob Scott has owned more than one beautiful example of BTs, too.)
I can't really even talk about what a hole this hilarious, devious, funny, affectionate, and hard-working guy has left.
Oh Connie, I just now saw this, and am so sorry to hear your sad news -- Words, as always, are never enough ... Only time helps us heal (time, and other dogs who make new places for themselves in our hearts).

I may have told this here ....
Milo had a great trick when his sister Tilly grabbed the best spot on the dog couch.
Milo didn't care! Heck no! He was over at the sliding glass door bark-bark-barking at some evil squirrel or other critter out there. As soon as Tilly jumped down and ran over to see, Milo trotted over to the couch and took the spot he wanted.

PS
The old Far Side cartoon with a couple of squirrels out in the yard, and the dogs inside barking wildly and frantically behind the window, and one squirrel says to the other, "I love this show" ..... like that.
