The other litter is show lines. Nice breeding, but not what I want.
I spoke with the owner of Danger (sire) and he assured me that with the temperament of both sire and dam that a singleton should not be a problem.
So any opinions of this breeding would be much appreciated.
I would want pup interaction with other pups if possible or at the very least other pup friendly adult dogs to teach dog skills to the pup.
Have a breeder friend with a singleton pup & she spent a lot of time seeing that they pup interacted with other older pups & pup friendly females & 2 adult males. Pup is now well rounded & has proper dog on dog skills
Pups aren't born with social skills no matter how good the breeding is.
There are adult dogs who will discipline a pup appropriately but finding one that's willing to put an older dog in it's place without a fight erupting is very hard. Humans can manage the interaction as closely as possible and you still pretty much need a dog that will give clear "back off! you went too far" signals without fighting.
A 4-5 day age difference litter is such a great opportunity I'd really hate for the pup to miss it.

I'll admit right off the bat that this is a very selfish attitude. But I would never knowingly adopt a dog with "issues." God bless people who do. There's a special place in heaven for the rescuers of special-needs animals.
So, if you go into this knowing that a singleton pup is going to have missed out on any kind of early life socialization and will be a challenge, then at least you will be prepared for that.
I just don't go looking for "projects." Healthy, well-adjusted dogs are enough work to raise. And they all need homes. I can only care for a few, so I choose the ones that have the greatest chance for success with me.
I think this singleton issue--and the fact that the breeder doesn't seem to care--is a deal-breaker. But that's just one (selfish) opinion.

Not only doesn't seem to care ..... seems to actually disagree and not understand that, as Cathy says, "Pups aren't born with social skills no matter how good the breeding is."
